Each month we highlight a new wine region of the world and curate four white and four red wines that best represent the region. These wines are featured in our Wine Station dispensers for tastings and are available for purchase by the bottle.
Piedmont is located in the northwest corner of Italy, stretching between the Alps from the north and the Apennines from the south.
The region is one of the most important wine producer regions in the country and it is well-known for Barolo and Barbaresco wine production. Approximately 90% of vines planted here are red.
Five distinct wine-growing areas with outstanding landscapes and castles in Piedmont are part of the UNESCO heritage site.
Trentino-Alto Adige wine region is located in the north of Italy and borders Austria to the north, Switzerland to the northwest, Lombardy to the west, and Veneto to the south.
Winegrowing has a long tradition in Trentino-Alto Adige wine region and the region has vineyards of about 15,000 hectares. The winemakers from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine region produce a huge variety of excellent wines and it is characterized by the highest share of DOC wines in Italy.
Due to the mild climate of the Mediterranean, almost all red and white grape varieties can be planted here.
Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine is a rather unknown and very diverse region in the northeast of Italy between the Alps and the Adriatic, bordering Austria and Slovenia.
Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine region is divided into four sub-regions: the two high-quality regions Colli Orientali and Collio and the region of Grave del Friuli, where simpler wines grow on alluvial soils along with Carso.
The wines of the region stand out from other Italian wines. Light-bodied, refreshing white wines are something exotic and foreign for many Italians.
Veneto is the 8th largest wine region in Italy. Vineyards in the Veneto wine region can be found on the shores of Lake Garda as well as near the lagoon of Venice, at the foot of the Dolomites, and in the hills of Mantua.
The variety of the cultivated grapes is unique: it ranges from autochthonous white vines such as the Prosecco or Garganega grape to Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio to the distinct red varieties Corvina and Raboso and to Cabernet and Merlot. With such well-known Venetian wines as Amarone, Valpolicella, Soave, and Prosecco, Veneto is one of the most important wine-growing regions in Italy.
Sauvignon Blanc from the Colli Orientali in North East Italy, this has an intense bouquet with scents of sage and tomato leaf blend with delicate notes of melon and yellow pepper. Perfectly balanced, fresh, dry with long aromatic persistence. Food Pairings: As aperifif, with antipastos, lobster, scampi, sea food in general and creamed risottos based on aromatic herbs (also asparagus).
Aromas of Tropical fruit with a honey tone. On the palate, fruity at the beginning, ripe aromas, fresh, sapid and persistent ending. Pair light hors d'oeuvres, fish, seafood, as an aperitif.
This wine is made from 100% Malvasia grapes, giving it a unique flavor profile. The nose is filled with aromas of white flowers, citrus, and stone fruit. On the palate, the wine is light and crisp, with flavors of green apple, lemon, and a hint of minerality. The finish is clean and refreshing, with a hint of almond. This wine is perfect for pairing with light seafood dishes, salads, and mild cheeses.
Fruity bouquet with pleasant aromas of peach blossom, acacia and hawthorn and light hints of almond and white chocolate. Fresh, savoury, fragrant flavour. Ideal for delicate starters, light first courses, white meats and raw or marinated fish.
Intense ruby red color. Distinct, characteristic bouquet with evident notes of raspberry and wild berries. A pleasant, dry and slightly aromatic palate, with a subtle bright note and nice velvetiness.
Loads of bright cherries and raspberry jam are complemented by soft, firm tannins, dry rose petals, dusty chalk, and a kiss of oak, leading to a spicy finish.
Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Dindarella,and Molinara. Fresh and fruity, red cherry, hard black cherry, raspberry notes. Coffee and pepper notes in the background. Flavour : Sapid and dry, with a good acidity that confers freshness and makes the wine very drinkable. Medium bodied, well balanced by a fresh acidity.
Ripe red plum, mocha, spice, leather and tobacco flesh out in a supple, juicy Barbera that will drink well right out of the gate. The 2020 is irresistibly delicious. It spent four months in neutral oak, a relatively short period of aging that works well for this wine.
