Greece boasts an unparalleled array of distinct soil types, microclimates, elevations, and expositions, and thus, terroir-driven wines are Greece’s greatest contribution to the winemaking world.
Greece produces more white than red wine, with the latter accounting for just a third of total production. An impressive 90% of plantings consist of the country’s rich stock of indigenous grape varieties. White Savatiano grape is on the top of the list, followed by the pink skinned Roditis. Agiorgitiko is the most planted red grape variety and third overall, followed by Liatiko, Xinomavro, Muscat of Hamburg and Assyrtiko. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the two most popular international grape varieties in the Greek vineyard.
Assyrtiko is the leading white wine grape of Greece; this one has a more earthy finesse and slightly mellower acidity than is common for this wine. Beyond the initial woody, earthy notes you’ll find green apple and lemon, with hints of herbaceousness.
Moschofilero 80% and Sauvignon Blanc 20%. Vibrant green – yellow color with grey hues. Rich aromatic character. Typical aromas from both grape varieties, rose and citrus blossom from Moschofilero as well as intense tropical fruits in the foreground from Sauvignon Blanc. Fresh and round palate, medium body with crisp acidity and a light mineral aftertaste. Ideal companion to seafood, fish, meat in white sauce and pasta.
100% Agiorgitiko. Pale pink colour with rose highlights. Complex aromas of fresh red and exotic fruits (cherry, mulberry, passion fruit), herby elegance and hints of sweet spices. Rich, refreshing, and exquisitely balanced with the sweetness of the variety. Pronounced freshness on the palate.
Notes of ripe nectarine, nougat, honey and vanilla. Full-bodied, rich and creamy with appealing depth and texture leading to a fresh citrus finish. Ideal with pan-fried salmon, roast chicken and parmesan risotto.
This beautiful summer red has an intensively fruit—driven nose with aromas of cherry, fresh berries and a hint of tomato leaves. The palate is well balanced, smooth and fruity, where Xinomavro gives freshness and intensity & shows good vibrancy on the finish. Food Matching: Perfectly served with grilled meats, cold cuts and cheese.
Light red color, typical for Liatiko wines, hides an explossion of cherries, wrapped in a pleasant cina- mon and vanilla blend of aromas. When tasted a fruity yet firm flavor is noted with lots of bright red raspberry fruit and just a touch of oak is making this wine so approachable and charming. This is a very versatile red and can be enjoyed even a bit chilled. Would pair perfectly with a cheese platter, light poultry, or red sauce seafood pastas well as salmon.
Fruity bouquet with fragrant overtones of chocolate and caramel Undertones of vanilla and cinnamon Fine tannins and velvety richness. Wholly sustainable vineyards on the western coast of the Peloponnese, close to Ancient Olympia. 25-30 year old vines at an elevation of 30-40 meters.
Theopetra Estates sits on the hillside slopes around the Meteora Rocks. This rich blend shows fruity aromas of blackberry and dark currant fruit, quince, black pepper, sandalwood and coffee. The palate is lush and complex, with dark fruit and sweet spice flavours. It pairs well with red meats and cheeses.
